TWO YOUNG BIRDS getting MARRIED in LAS VEGAS

Kirsten, a young hairdresser and Matt, a young man serving his country, decided to get married in vegas the vegas way - in the middle of the night. This was the first time that I shot an elopement that took place super late and the city was particularly vibrant and alive. I showed up in Kirsten’s room to take her getting ready photos and her getting into her gorgeous dress, some sweet photos with her mom, and walked her down to prepare for their first looks. Something I’ll never forget is her stepdad Cliff, who was literally running back and forth from room to room, bride to groom, to coordinate everything so that it worked out perfectly for Kirsten. This family was already so sweet to begin with, but seeing that made me think of my own dad, who I know would have probably done the same thing.

We coordinated for Kirsten and Matt to do their first looks where the Flamingos were. This was super fitting for Kirsten. Originally, we had planned to take photos at the Bellagio except the formula 1 race was going on and we couldn’t get access to the fountains at the time which is where Kirsten’s mom had gotten married and taken photos, sadly. But it turned out amazing still and Matt was so fun to work with and you can just tell he was as nervous as Kirsten, often looking away and thinking things to himself it seemed. Probably thinking β€œwow she looks so good!”

The party bus had finally arrived after a little while and we all hopped on and made our way to the Little White Wedding Chapel. I’d never gone here at night at the time and it just hit different. I’ve always loved the night because it reminds me of those rebellious middle school - high school teen years when I would sneak out of the house at night just to be by myself. It felt like one of those nights at Kirsten’s wedding, except we all snuck out of our houses to secretly get married… so fun

Marrying Kirsten and Matt was absolutely hilarious and nothing short of it. The officiant β€œaccidentally” kept referring to Kirsten as β€œKristen” during the entire ceremony and Matt just went along with it and even said that he takes β€œKristen” to be his wife, lol. I’ve been working on my comedic timing so you know of course I had to take that group photo and say β€œokay everybody, look at the camera and everybody say Kristen!” and they all bursted out in laughter. That was the best. I’m smiling just thinking about it.

It ended off on such a lighthearted note but I still replay that night in my head. Thinking about the way Cliff held Kirsten’s hand as he walked her into the gazebo, the look in her mom’s eyes when she watched us take photos of Kirsten and Matt, and of course how can I forget Matt’s grandma who broke the ice in the party bus and went up to give a sensual yet super funny dance in front of her own grandson.

Obviously, we had an amazing time, and it was all done by these two lovebirds. The people that surrounded them was a true show of how much they care and love they had surrounding them, and I totally understand why. To this day, I still text Kirsten often and catch up with her and Matt. They are welcoming a baby this year and I’m happy to say… I knew it lol. My mom-stincts were on point that night and I literally was like… she’s pregnant! All of my love and blessings to Kirsten and Matt.
